They both have many pedal controllers. Some of them low impedance, others high impedance.

I think I'm going to forget about all the (rotary) buttons, and only do the on/off switch as a capacitive switch with a custom acrylic project box.
That should do the trick I think.
I wasn't aware of the fact that the MDm made the complete buttons and LCD display obsolete
Thanks in advance.

Just to be clear, I think you still need to use the rotary encoder when upgrading the firmware so don't leave them out of your planning.

Just the button LEFT is needed for this.

Hi!
I have built in an ARM based MegaDRUM device in my cajon...(to something which I have named e-cajon)

This is a complete black-box solution. Only USB out and no buttons or any LCD etc.

It seems like most MD functions can be carried out using MegaDRUM Manager and it is possible to change the firmware without any buttons.

One function which I am missing is the function to be able to set the autohighlevel (measuring the piezo high level) - this can't be done from MDM. Today you need to have buttons to be able run that sequence. If this function is offered in the future...you are almost able to do 100% of the tasks from MDM.

Best Regards

Yes, only the LEFT button is needed, though you will have to do a considerable amount of work to separate that button out.

Can I request that the 'auto resize' be savable as part of the mds?

I'll look into it but MDM feature requests are better to be raised in viewforum.php?f=4

I just released a new MDM version in which AutoSize is saved on exit and restored on startup.

I am building my own drums atm, and was thinking about the wiring.
Is there anything special about the piezo wiring when using a MegaDrum Midi-Trigger?

So:
Head piezo:
- Piezo metal lead => ring of stereo jack;
- Piezo ceramic lead (red) => tip of stereo jack;

Rim piezo:
- Piezo metal lead => sleeve of stereo jack;
- Piezo ceramic lead (red) => tip of stereo jack;

I hope someone could answer me, because my solder iron is getting hot... :-p

FYI: All the info you guys are giving me is a tremendous help! I'm taking notes with all the things I read and pickup here, and will finally make an excerpt of it for other people who are trying to build their drums/cymbals and start working with the MegaDrum.

You can reverse the wiring of each piezo, but generally you'll be ok with this:

Head piezo:

ceramic -> tip
brass -> sleeve

Rim piezo:

ceramic -> ring
brass -> sleeve
If it ain't broken... fix it until it is.
