it seems to be a quite smart idea. I was a bit afraid that it would start to interfere with other functions, but giving it second thought and how it is implemented...just clever!

Good idea!

I'm trying to figure out if this 'Choking with Note On' should be a global setting or a per input setting. My feeling is that VSTs implement it in one or another way, not both together so I believe it should be a global setting. What do you think?

Can you please test this version:

megadrum_20140331.zip

It add a new Misc setting called 'AltNoteChoking'. It comes right after 'InputsPriority' setting but at the moment you have to set it via Menu since it is not (yet) implemented in MDM or MD Commander.
When set to Yes, it changes the meaning of Alt Note on all switch type inputs to Choking Note.

Dmitry, thanks again, this function it is really crucial for Ableton users. I think it's reasonable to enable it globally. It should work with any VST. Per instruments enabling may be required only in case of using multiple VSTs per kit, but I think there's no demand for this.
