Postby Vintage » Sat Aug 09, 2014 12:42 am

I was successfully able to upgrade the firmware but now the until is not responding correctly. I cannot the MegaDrum Manager to recognize it anymore. It is acting really slow now.

Wondering if the board is damaged or if the firmware bricked the unit? When I run it on it takes forever to load. When it does runs it is super slow compared to the previous firmware version. I had lots of trouble tring to do the update too. I did purchase this unit used.

I opened the MD box before I did the upgrade. The chip says ATMEGA644P 20AU 1048 so I used this file: megadrum644_56_20140629.bin and used the MegaDrum Manager version 20140515 to do the upgrade. I turned MD box on and also holding the first knob in. It loaded the next screen where I choose 20Mhz. Pushed the down button and then pushed the mouse button. It ran the update with no errors. I did have a major issue trying to use my iMac to do the upgrade. I gave up and used a PC instead. But the issue could have been operator error because I forgot to choose which midi port #. I did figure that out by the time I did the upgrade using the PC and choose #1.

Funnily enough I revived my old Atmega MD yesterday and also had trouble with this version. Dmitri is aware, I think. I just used the previous version which is just below the d/l for the other and it worked fine.

Good luck. Are you enjoying MD?

airflamesred I am totally new to MD. I only just learned about this project about a month ago. I have always loved electronic drums. My first experience was messing with a Boss pad at a store in in the 80's. I wanted kit too but they were $10,000 back then. Now I am building a compact 24"x36" board with bunch of 5" size pads and a 12" Aquarian onHead pad as my snare. I have 1/2 of it finished now. I wanted something I could put next to my desk and not take up a bunch of room. Going to be powering it with MegaDRUM and a iMac 3.5Ghz with i7 with 32GB of ram and a 3TB drive. Not sure what I am going to use as my sound software yet. I have been currently using the midi to trigger sounds from Logic Pro X. I still have and use a Roland TD-8.

Hi! I had also problems during the upgrade to 20140629....on ATMega....and MAC...but did finally use a PC and managed to get the upgrade done.

I have installed my ATMega board inside my e-cajon...with 5 sensors. :-)

Best Regards
