Am I right in thinking that false triggering at 1 or 2 miliseconds are likely are mechanical in nature?

Yes... It's due to too much vibrations mostly...

I'm not entirely sure why I asked this question as I sort of new the answer but the miniscan point is interesting.
However, in this case, the problem was down to something else with the bass pedals.
