Hi-hat input level with mono and stereo cable.

Postby jarosz » Fri Oct 27, 2017 6:53 pm

Hi.

According to this post: https://www.megadrum.info/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1929#p21063 there should be no actual difference between using mono and stereo cable to connect a hi-hat controller to input 1.

When I connect a hi-hat controller to input 1 with a stereo cable, maximum level reported on the screen is around 440. When I connect it with a mono cable (though connecting the HiHat power source to the ground) maximum level reported on the screen is around 32.

Is this a feature or a bug?

If it is a simple open/closed (in/off) pedals then a mono cable is enough.
For most of variable pedals/controllers a stereo cable must be used.

It is a variable pedal (Roland FD-8) which is used with mono plug in a TD-4KP set. I thought i was doing something wrong, but now I understand that the stereo plug is a requirement for MegaDrum, not for the pedal.
