I will check if it makes a difference. As I mentioned, I also finalized the breakout-box during the update period. We will see what it does.

Can I use the newer MDM version (just before MDMFX) to do the firmware downgrade?
Kind regards, Rob.

You can use both MDM and MDMFX.

Firmware downgrade with MDM version 20170522 fails. Upon selecting Firmware upgrade and selecting the .bin file, MD enters FirmwareUpgradeOnPC mode but after 15 sec. MDM responds with yellow status bar message 'Megadrum is not responding'. Repeating this results in the same message. I guess the MDM version is not compatible with the .bin file?

I will try the downgrade om another PC with older MDM version.

[Editted with new info]

Just did the successful downgrade with old MDM version 20160413 on a different PC so I concluded not all MDM versions are backwards compatible.

However, after doing the trigger test I did an upgrade with MDM 20170522 back to the MD firmware I previously had and encountered the same behaviour  . That was strange because I did that firmware upgrade in the past with the same setup. Only difference was that the notebook was now in the docking station. I restarted the notebook stand-alone with MD directly attached and the firmware upgrade was successful. So in my case it is hardware related and has to with usb ports. The issue is solved for me.

Kick trigger test on input 1 wilt original MD firmware gives the same results, with exact same copied input settings, I have to increase threshold to the same value of 24 to eliminate false kick triggers.

On input 2/3 the effect of open hi-hat is less and on the other inputs away from input 1 the effect is lower and the same for all inputs.

Conclusion: in my case I have to take another input for the kick. I don't like it because of the breakout box that is based on standard input numbering, but I have no choice.
Kind regards, Rob.

There is some good hi-hat stand I found right now while surfing. And also check their price list one by one. Some of them are really good and under manageable. The design and shape impressed me a lot. I will surely give a try there:

To complete this thread, with firmware version 20181218 using noise filtering and lowering pedal high level by resistor the issue is solved.

I use input 1 for the kick again with threshold 3 and all soft kicks are registered.
