MD buttons functions are mixed up, can I reset

Postby Catfish » Sat Dec 21, 2019 2:23 am

Hi all

I've been a happy Megadrum user for a couple of years now:)

Unfortunately, a couple of the buttons on my box don't seem to be working as they should.

The biggest issue is that the right rotary encoder won't operate as an "enter/select" function. Instead it skips me forward to input 23! This means I've got no way of entering a selection. I can't even load a new config, it just skips me forward to input 23!

I've updated my firmware. Same problem but it skips me forward to a different input 31 I think from memory.

I tried 'send all' on from MD manager. Same problem but again alters the function to skipping forward to a different input channel.

Just a check as to what is happening generally...

Left rotary moves through the programs.

Left rotary push advances values.

Top button (LEFT I think???) moves backward through programs.

Botom button decreases values.

Right rotary moves up and down values.

Right rotary push...skips forward program to random spot.

Because firmware update and sends from MD Manager have caused some changes to function I'm guessing it's some kind of software issue.

Is there a way I can reset or reprogram the buttons?

Power up MegaDrum while holding the RIGHT button (built into right encoder) pressed.

Hi Dmitri

Thanks for the response and sorry for the delay.

I tried your suggestion this afternoon. It just brought up the firmware update message. It didn't have any effect on the buttons. They're still behaving the same way.

Can you suggest any other way I can reset or reprogram the buttons? Is there something I can do via MD Manager or otherwise with the computer?

Thanks again for your time.

Are you sure you pressed the RIGHT button? If yes, can you still navigate to AutoloadConf and set it to No?

Hi Dmitri

Thanks again for getting back to me and happy new year:)

Yes, it was definitely the right encoder button.

I tried the same thing with the other three buttons as well, just in case.

I can navigate with no issues. I can't enter any selections because the right encoder button skips ahead to a random selection rather than acting as an enter button...

Autoload config is currently set to 'no'.

Can you still navigate left and right with the LEFT/RIGHT encoder?

In this case instead of pressing the RIGHT button can you press UP and DOWN buttons simultaneously when you need to load/save a selected config?

Thank you for persisting with this:)

Just tried your suggestion.

Pushing the small top and bottom buttons lands me instantly at channel 17. It's the same thing that happens if I push the right encoder.

Interestingly, the small bottom button is operating correctly as a DOWN button, but the small top button is operating as a LEFT. Left encoder push is operating as UP.

I tried to pushing the left encoder (UP) and small bottom button (DOWN) together and it seems to work:) Thank you.

That solves my immediate problem. I can now enter selections.

Is there a way to restore the proper operation of the buttons?

Did you ever open the module and disconnect the buttons cable? If yes, then you probably re-connected it incorrectly.
