By "press and release" I mean literally mean press and release. By pressing edge switch you "choke" the cymbal. Read about Threshold in http://www.megadrum.info/content/pads-settings

Hello,
I use the CY5 as hihat too, but with a hallsensor and it works fine.

I use "bow" and "edge" only in the hihat pedal menue, "bell" is disable.

I think you have only a proper result with an open pedal in the moment , when I read your settings correctly...
