I changed MIDI In and MIDI Out to MegaDrum USB MIDI.
Wired up the LED light.
No response in the MIDI log or the LED when I hit the trigger.

If this is helpful info, when I turn on the soldering gun plugged into the same circuit as the computer the MegaDrum is connected to, I get lots of signaling in MIDI log, LCD screen, and LED.

I'm using an old 40-channel CD-ROM cable for wiring. Could that be a factor?

Thanks!

This tells me that MegaDrum is not registering any triggering. It is either because the trigger is not wired correctly or the trigger is not working.

What circuit are you talking about? Aren't you connecting MegaDrum to your PC over USB?

The trigger is a Roland PD-85. It works with the Roland TD-6.

I wasn't clear. I meant that my computer (connected to the MD) and the soldering iron are both plugged into the same electric receptacle. When I turn on the soldering iron, the MD starts firing like crazy.

Thanks, Dmitri!

Well, that is the most unorthodox triggering method I have come across, it's like witchcraft!

In all seriousness, there is a clear wiring issue there my friend.

I also would suggest to double check wiring.

Finally back to it. I will post some pics s I can't diagnose a wiring issue.
- Pad works with Roland module.
- cable tests good
- computer sees Megadrum
- but no MIDI transmittted
- the word "drive" on the cable is on the pin 40 side
- have counted cable numbers several times. 16 is my ground

Thanks for your help.
