There is a fix for this in the firmware so you should be able to get chicks with velocities from 1.

Yes, I am. I meant that when I press the pedal not very slow I would still like to get chicks with velocity 1, but I get no chick. And when I press pedal slow/very slow - no chick, this is OK.

Sorry, I don't understand. You don't get chicks at all now?

Sorry) I get chicks.
Chick velocity is proportional to the velocity of pressing pedal. - OK
At some pedal velocity (which I called ChickVelMin) I get chicks with velocity 1. - OK
Below that pedal velocity I got no chicks. But I want to get chicks with velocity 1 still.
Below some other pedal velocity (which I called ChickVelThresh) I want no chicks. - OK

How long does it take for you to move the pedal with this velocity from fully open to full close position?

Yes it's better to talk in terms of time. Approximately 900ms.
Dmitri, one more feature needed.
When I hit the cymbal in half opened state and then press the pedal, the sound keep going. Because chick is not emitted at that level.
I suggest to emit 1-velocity chick note in condition: "foot CC reached closed position" AND ( "last hi-hat note is not chick note" OR "foot CC has at least a little period of increase since last chick note" )
I also suggest to reserve velocity 1 to this purpose exclusively so that usual chicks start with velocity 2 to achieve better dynamics.
In the previous request

I want to get chicks with velocity 2 respectively.
Congratulations on the first of May.))

Can you please try this firmware:

megadrum_20140506.zip

It has a completely new HiHat pedal handling algorithm.
It has 2 additional Pedal paramaters: MinVelocity and MaxVelocity which play role in calculating chick and splash velocities. When you navigate to this 2 Pedal parameters you will also be able to see raw pedal press/release speed(velocity) when you do a chick.
If you press/release your pedal slower then MinVelocity then no chick/splash will be triggered.
If you press/release your pedal faster then MaxVelocity then chick/splash will have velocity 127/63/31 depending on where the press started relative to ShrtChckTh and LngChckTh levels.
If you press/release your pedal with a speed between MinVelocity and MaxVelocity then chick/splash will have velocity between 127/63/31 and 1 depending on where the press started relative to ShrtChckTh and LngChckTh levels.
In my tests with my opto pedal controller I had MinVelocity around 9 and Max Velocity around 100.

You have to set MinVelocity and MaxVelocity manually via Menu for now. Also, because of a change in Pedal SysEx format, if you send Pedal parameters to MegaDrum from MDM then you also have to set Chick and Splash notes (also all other pedal notes if needed, and MinVelocity/MaxVelocity again) manually via Menu.

Dmitry, thanks for this enhancement!
Adding some control over generated chick velocities is a good idea!
But for now I have the following problems:
1. Velocity detection is very unreliable, on low velocities (first 20% of dynamic range) it more or less adequate but further it starts to jump. Raw values: 55, 55, 136, 55, 103, 55, 119.
2. I have chicks sometimes when I'm releasing the pedal.
3. False triggering suppression stopped working.
4. Problem with sound of half opened hi-hat that keeps going after closing hi-hat persists. Sometimes it chokes with a chick, sometimes not.

Will old algorithm still be supported? Because it worked Ideally with no problems except 4.
Is there any chance you implement the 1-velocity chick on conditions from previous post?
Or splitting ChickThresh onto registering and emission thresholds (viewtopic.php?p=26302#p26302) which I think would be the best!

Ok, I will release a new firmware version 'officially' with an option to choose the old or the new algorithm. This way more people may be engaged in testing new algorithm without loosing compatibility with the old. I will continue to work on the new algorithm since I believe it has more potential than the old.
