Ok cheers, I'll see if I get a chance to try that later on. I did think it was strange to have to bridge two pins diagonally.

No luck. With the jumper on pins 13 and 14 the screen lights up and I can adjust the backlight intensity (nothing displayed though), but with the jumper on pins 11 and 12 there's no activity at all.

Try connecting the LED pin of your LCD to pin 15 or pin 16 of the LCD connector - your LCD may have different range of backlight voltages to ili9340 LCDs I have.

Hi all,
I have a question regarding pinout. As I look at the schematic for the main board, I doesn't have the same names as the new display.
Is there an updatedc schematic that I am not seeing? Does anyone have a pinout table?
Thanks

Different LCD manufactures give different names to pins. I used pin names which I have on LCDs I have.

BINGO! I connected the LED pin to pin 15 on the LCD header and it worked!

Here's a pic showing the size difference between the 1.8" and 2.8" screens:

The only thing that doesn't work is backlight adjustment but that doesn't bother me as it seems to be at full or almost full brightness anyway. Now it's time to fit the new screen in along with some nice new buttons and rotary encoders for a full facelift.

Thanks for the tips Dmitri!

You can still use brightness adjustment but because the range on your LCD is different you need to add a pull up (to +5) resistor from the the LED pin of the LCD. I guess it should be around 2k-10k but you need to try different values to get best brightness range.

Ah, ok. I suppose I could connect a 10k trimpot to find the right value; but then again I think I'll just leave it as it is - the brightness is fine and it's not something I ever need to change.

Thanks for the pinout info. Also, what is the manufacture of the enclosures you use.

Dmitri,
I have one more question. Where is the latest manual for the Mega drum module with color display?
The schematic from the main page doesn't referance the new display.
Thanks
