The CY5 has it's switch on the topside of the cymbal, and every time I hit the edge I trigger both switch and piezo.

So therefor I think the retrigger value in bow channel should override the switch retrigger value making them equal.

This is only what I think, maybe I'm missing something.. :)

There is no retrigger overwrite so you should set retrigger value close to each other on both channels.

hi dmitri,

I have some problems with the dual zone cymbal feature: i built a testing cymbal that combines both a simple dual piezo setup (no keith raper) and a piezo switch mode which are selectable by a switch, so that of course only one mode works at the same time. The dual piezo works quite well with megadrum {apart from the fact that the piezos are not vibration separated 100%-ly and so i get some false triggering...but that's based on my construction, I'll optimize the damping when I got some time} - Fine! But unfortunately the piezo-switch cymbal won't work that nice with megadrum. It doesn't seem to make a difference whether the switch is opened or closed. I'll never get the edge sound and the bow triggering is much worse as when single zone option is selected.
You suggested (on page 1 of this thread) that the threshold value should be changed on the edge channel. but I don't understand what threshold should affect when channels is set to switch .. the switch's output is digital, so I expect to get a bow sound when switch is open and piezo is hit or an edge sound when switch is closed. unfortunately this assumption seems to be wrong. can you please tell me how the piezo switch is working and what parameters are affecting the triggering and HOW?
btw changing the threshold value (for both edge and bow) does not better the trigger behaviour...

thank you big time!

A threshold for a switch determines voltages below which the switch is considered closed and above which it is considered open.
You can make sure that the switch is working by pressing it while monitoring MIDI signals with MIDI-OX. You should see a MIDI aftertouch message with level 7f for both bow and edge inputs when you press the switch and a MIDI aftertouch message with a level 00 when you release it (again for both inputs).

Funny... it's the other way around at my midiox output: 00 when I close the switch
and 7F when I open (release) it. Is this the problem?

Do you have a multimeter? If so, test resistance of the edge channel on your cymbal both when you press the switch and when you release it. What can you see?

It's 950 Ohm when switch is open (released) end tends to 0 when it's closed (pressed).

edit: 13 Ohm when closed

I'm puzzled. Is it really showing 00 when you press the switch and 7f when you release it?
