Nothing specific for the casing.
Not require special ventilation or special insulation.

The LCD could be useful to diagnose problems. In my case, I had random triggering in some channels, and the lcd allowed my to troubleshoot this problem faster. Of course you can live without it, but I think in the end is nice to have it, to make the Megadrum a little less computer-dependant (I know you still need a computer to use it, but is nice to be able to tweak things directly on the Megadrum itself with the buttons and LCD)

First: Congratulations on the 2.8 ! Looks VEEERY nice and I will be recommend it to my friends. Nice job.
Regarding the LCDs you offer, can't you offer some LCD with a 16P connector so doesn't have to be soldered wire by wire? I mean the LCD with holes for a 16P connector as I used in my build is great

Yes, it's possible.
I'll think about it.

Ok guys so i bought this kit from a friend for 300$ Canadian = 182 EUR. He only played it may be 10 times. Still brand new condition. Was it a good buy? considering the fact that pedals, pads and the rack was going to cost me almost the same or more. Now my question is would MegaDrum work with it. Thanks

With my experience in owning a very similar kits, yes its alot cheaper than starting on say, a roland set. I've been for the most part satisfied with mine, I'm not finished with my megadrum yet, so all my experience was with the cheapo module it came with.

Here's what went wrong with mine and how I fixed them:

I have the same cymbals, all of them failed on me, on two it was simple enough that all that i needed to do was replace the wiring with something sturdier. The third cymbal cracked around the center hole, and the jack failed on me. I replaced the jack and used a coat hanger to hold the 'bell' onto the rest of the cymbal.

My Rack is black, but the clamps are the same. Mine has fallen apart a few times (in the middle of a song with my band most of the time). If you plan on moving the rack alot, make sure you re-tighten it each time.

The Pedal is the same as the one I initially had. I would go ahead and replace the spring with something about 2cm longer. The spring which came with mine was much too tight for me to play comfortably. I had a different bass pad, so you might not have the same issue, but mine had the pad too far back that I had to modify that too. I eventually replaced the pedal with a PDP pedal.

Theres no HiHat pedal in the picture, my guess is it won't be a variable hihat, just on/off, may or may not be an issue. The pedals look pretty easy to mod to an optic pedal though.

I picked up my 2.8 kit 3 yesterday and Im very pleased when I opened the package
Very nice kit and the PCB is probably beyond Mil Specs :D
Never seen such a thick PCB in a kit an certainly not with 70um copper tracks.

Almost too nice to solder the components on ;)

Anyway, it seems I have a nice solder job to do in my Ham Radio Shack this next weekend :ugeek:

Thanx Synthex for supplying this kit!

I'll post the building results ASAP on the forum.

I received my 2.8 PCB kit today (1/29/08). For anyone curious, it was shipped to Texas/USA from France on 1/14/09. It was very nicely packed and the board appears to be of a very high quality. I can't wait to build it! Thanks again, Synthex!

Where in Texas are you? I can have you looking over my shoulder to make sure I don't ruin anything :P

Component label = PCB label

yellow violet black gold = 47
brown black brown gold = 100
red red brown gold = 220
yellow violet brown gold = 470
brown black red gold = 1k
yellow violet red gold = 4k7
blue red red gold = 6k2
brown black orange gold = 10k
yellow violet orange gold = 47k

15 = 15pF
22 = 22pF
104 = 100nF
D224 = 220nF
470nk = 470nF

12.000 = 12MHz
16.000 = 16MHz
20.000 = 20MHz

There is no polarity for these components

Buttons must be connected between the "C" and "NO" connectors.

"C" = Common
"NO" = Normally Open
"NC" = Normally Close
