Need your help! --- USB MIDI Problems ---

Hi everybody,

please help me... I have a problem with the Megadrum USB Midi Data.
I received an Megadrum Full Kit built by Dimitri. Thanks again Dimitri :) !

http://x2sys.homeip.net/megadrum/megadrum001.jpg

Everything is working fine if I'm using USB only for Power
and the Midi-Out for the MIDI-Singals (low latency = ).

BUT if I try to use also the USB for the MIDI Signals it's acting with
a high latency (0.5 to 1 second) and please read my tracking below.

I tracked the midi-signals from
1. megadrum-usb-midi (called Anschluss 1)
2. megadrum-midi-out via midisport2x4 (called Port A)

What I've done...
I hit the snare (note D1)
I started recording the signals.
I hit the hi-hat (note A#1)
I hit the snare
as per below picture:

Image

Midi-Out seems to work correctly.
Every hit has a Note On and Note Off.

USB-Midi is strange it starts always first with a Note Off :? of the
last hit Note. After that it does the Note On, but again no Note off :o until
the next hit.

I tried with a Windows 7 Laptop and a Mac Pro. Both are fast enough.
Cubase 5, Superior Drummer.
The Midi Cable is much longer than the USB cable.
I tried it with internal USB and active USB Hubs.

thank you for any solution!

regards,
Marc

For the lack of Mac I can only try to help if you do it on Windows.

I believe Windows is not running inside a Vmware or VirtualBox.

Install MIDI-OX and monitor MIDI data from MegaDrum USB.
Do you see 1s delay between you hitting a pad and a MIDI On message appearing in MIDI-OX?

no not any virtual machine... a dual core dell laptop with native windows 7.

after installing midiox it shows that
Image

It seems less than 1 second.

1. I hit the snare
2. start recording
3. hit snare
4. hit hi-hat

it starts always with a note off ... that is not correct right!?

How much less?

3. hit snare
4. hit hi-hat

This is not.
Why do you start recording after hitting the snare?
A video of you hitting a pad next to a MIDI-OX window would be helpful.

I started recording after hitting to show that the Note Off of the last note is always send on each new hit.

I have to Install Superior Drummer on my Laptop to test how fast it exactly is. I will do this tommorrow.

Here is the video

The configuration is not yet finished of the snare.
It's creating much notes when hitting hart. You see it in the video.

Thank you again!

As far as I can judge from the video (although it is upside down) Note On messages come first followed (after Note Off delay) by Note Off messages and it seems they come out instantaneously after you hit the pad.

Sorry for bad video.
I will do a better one tommorrow.

Here is again the output as pic:

You are right there is no note off in the beginning.
But it will be there, if there has been a hit before.
Have a look at the last line in the pic ... the note off is missing.

Strange, I cannot reproduce it here with default settings.
Are you doing it with default settings?
Disconnect all other pads but snare. Same result?
Can you try it on another PC?
