1. Do the inputs have preamps? Reason why I ask is that my ddrum Pro triggers when using my Pearl RedBox module needed a preamp to boost the signal.

MegaDrum is very sensitive and even touching input pins with a finger can cause them to trigger. Never heard of anyone needing to boost signals from triggers.
Sometimes it is even too sensitive for "hot" pads in which case you may need to "cool" down them with trimpot/fixed resistors.

dmitri thankx for the link very informative.
In your experience, any idea why I had to use preamps?
In any case, spent a year looking for a drum module that didn;t cost a bunc. I got the Pearl RedBox at a ridiculous price. So I jumped on it. but now, reading about your trigger box and audio software and VSTs, what a combination!

Sounds amazing regarding your experience with the DDRUM PRO triggers which needed to be boosted...I have tested the TDRUM BLACK Triggers on MegaDRUM (no patches) which states inside that they are licensed by DDRUM. I am pretty sure my trigger is equal to the DDRUM PRO Trigger. (They look very similar)
The Roland RT-10S/T/K are a bit too hot in MegaDRUM, so I have added a 10-15K resistor in serial to get them to work perfect!

yeah pretty whacky.. Drove me crazy for a couple of days. Supposedly, Hart Dynamics stated they modified the ddrum triggers to have better sensitivity.
So if a trigger is hot, one cannot just turn down sensitivity either in a drum module, or MegaDrums or in software like Addictive? Sorry I'm still in the learning process of triggers and its adverse effects.
Wondering if I should just tryout quartzpercussions, and they work on the redbox, then when I go with MegaDrums, I'll be all set? Or just add the resistors?

I would wait and see. Megadrum is pretty resilient.
