im now beyond the point of frustration ... it has been over a week and I cant figure out this hi hat /pedal setting

1) when I select note learn from bfd in the hihat what sound should I learn (hi hat open?)

2) how does me pressing down my (midi) hihat pedal make it change sound from hihat open to closed (I only learned 1 sound to the hihat such as hihat open)where does it get the hihat closed sound?

3)so if someone wants to help me out im in Chicago (usa) if local pm me and you can call me or I can call you .. or you can use team viewer and log in (set it up (or at least show me the basics)

4) you must have a paypal account so I can send you money for the help

roland cy12 h (for the cymbal)
roland fd8 for the pedal
and I use bfd2

im desperate

this is not a scam or a joke ... im 100% serious
thanks

Hi!

I would suspect that the problems are located in the BDF2 mappings. The function learn is not good enough in this case. I am not an experienced user in BDF...never tried it...but when reading the manual on page 137...you see if you want to use what they call variable hi hat these maps must be directed to their variable sounds. (Otherwise the cc pedal information won't get combined with the actual hit)

They had some examples in the BDF manual on page 139.

MegaDRUM map:
Open bow note 46: BDF map: variable tip
Closed blow note 42: variable tip

And so on...

From the manual:

A good example is the Roland V-Drums range of kits. Most of Roland’s brains send out the same set of notes for the hihat. The following table illustrates which notes to map to which articulation.
Roland note
Open Bow Closed Bow
Open Edge Closed Edge
Pedal
MIDI note (note no.)
A#1 () F#1 ()
D0 () A#-1 ()
G#1 ()
BFD mapping
variable tip variable tip
variable shank variable shank
pedal
The Roland brain decides whether to send the ‘open’ or ‘closed’ note depending on the pedal controller value and a setting on the brain dictating the transition point between open and closed.
This distinction is unimportant to BFD2 because it contains additional 1/4-open, 1/2-open and 3/4-open sounds.
Therefore the open and closed sounds are mapped to the same variable articulation. BFD2 makes its own decisions about which actual hihat articulation to play, depending on the value of the pedal controller.
The pedal note, meanwhile, chokes any playing open sound and plays the hihat pedal articulation (the ‘foot-chick’ sound).

I was looking in the MDS file. But all notes are set to zero for all 56 channels...and all channels have been disabled...

Loading your file...it gives me nothing...not a single false hit.

Is this file really reflecting your settings on the MD?

Without knowing what "MIDI data streaming" you're getting I'm guessing this is MIDI CC04 messages. If this is the case then you probably didn't configure HiHat pedal LowLevel/HiLevel.

3 threads, 7 pages, and this mds file is empty. I'm confused now.

Welcome to the club... Mr ddropski is very hard to follow to be able nail down the problem...new issues all over...

I had a discussion with ddropski over mail..pedal high/low seems to be completely out of space...low: 3 and high 30...

Something is not right here...hope he is using a TRS cable on his pedal...(ring, tip, ground)

Best Regards
