MIDI Init Error on two computers

Postby Vintage » Thu Aug 28, 2014 4:59 am

I have read over the Forums and I cannot get the MIDI to recognize the MD. I open the OPTIONS and check the USED SAME IN/OUT box. MIDI IN choose MegaDrum USB MIDI. MEGADRUM CHAINID set to 1. Click OK button. I have tried this on a Mac and a PC and neither one works. I was able to update the Firmware to version 20140518. I have tried reloading the MegaDrum Manager software. Restarting both computers. Unplugging the USB and restarted. Do I have this correct? Here is a pic from the Mac. It is exactly the same looking on the PC. In the list it shows "Real Time Sequencer" not sure want that is. I tried googling it with no luck. Wondering if that is causing the problem.

Chain Id is always 0 if you only have one unit. If you have several MD's the id can be set unique to each device...so you can both to send midi data and use MDM against several units. But as standard the id is set 0 on your device...and trying to connect with MDM...this Id must be the same.

On the PC I was able to get the MD to work by using 0 as the MegaDrum ChainID. But on the MAC I still cannot get it to work. The MAC was the computer I wanted to use because it has Logic Pro X installed. Any suggestions on why the MAC will not see the MIDI connection?

It work on the MAC now. With the mac I choose "MegaDrum USB MIDI - MegaDrum USB MIDI" for the Midi in. And it finally worked. Thanks for your help!!

Great,

Just a note...when using VST/DAW softwares like Logic etc. if you try to use MDM at the same time as your sound generating software...the hint is to use MegaDRUM Midi port 1 for MDM and MegaDRUM midi port 2 in your VST/daw. The md midi ports are equal...and sends the same information on both ports. If trying to use the same port for both MDM and Logic...MDM will probably crash...
