Yamaha PCY pre-choke

Postby glenn.szymanski » Mon Feb 16, 2015 6:55 pm

Greetings,

I recently bought a used Yamaha PCY135.

I tried using a stereo y cable into the 2 mono inputs on my Alesis Controlpad, but that's not working. I'm guessing because it uses a switch.

I know most modules use aftertouch to send the choke message via midi. I haven't bought Megadrum yet, but I'm wondering what values it sends for choke and pre-choke.

Thank you,
Glenn

I don't know what you mean by "pre-choke" but MegaDrum sends MIDI Aftertouch 127 when the edge/bell switch is pressed and MIDI Aftertouch 0 when the edge/bell switch is released. See Chan 1 through Chain 16 Polyphonic Aftertouch in http://www.midi.org/techspecs/midimessages.php . Same as Roland/Yamaha modules do.

What they're showing at the 1:20 minute mark...

Muting the cymbal and still being able to hit it.

In MegaDrum it is called Dampened note. See DBNote in http://www.megadrum.info/content/pads-settings
