Splitting the Features

It has occurred to me that it might be easier if the features were split into e.g.
a) Routing, midi note(s) and channels
b) The rest

We do seem to have all the ingredients, angr77 Megadrum Pad Library and the maps for AD, SD etc so the ability to load these indipendantly, I would have thought quite an advantage, certainly to beginers.

It would be getting closer to 'plug and play'

I don't know how much work would be involved - just a thought.

Hi! I really enjoy these kind of discussions. We tried something towards this direction about a year ago...two functions which can be found in firmware nowadays.

Rom maps
Rom kits

The rom maps do today include two complete mappings for AD2 and an amount of certain Ms channels. (Basic/advanced) which maps to the settings found in AD2.

The idea was to add more complete mappings for SD2/BCF etc.

But these settings is done for a complete series of channels...which makes it a it too unique.

Function no 2 was the rom kits...which include a complete midi map plus the settings for a complete defined drum set for a certain amount of channels and gears.

But now things get extremely unique...especially for the two settings included in firmware.

The idea was to add more complete configs like a TD6 or TD30 replacer where we know the gears and Pads etc.

I can't really say that the rom map/kit has been a great success...they have probably been too unique.

So I like the idea to include a rom pad function where we pre install the settings found in the MD library etc. So you can pick settings in a drop down box with pre-settings...like...Pd-8, millenium MPs 400 etc

Best Regards

Is this a lot of work, Dmitri? It's not of huge use to me but new users I think may benefit.

It will require a complete redesgn of MDM. This will involve a lot of time but I'm afraid the uptake of this will be similar to the uptake of "Rom maps/Rom kits" which Anders and I spent quite a lot of time on.

Yes, fair enough Dmitri, I wasn't trying to push more work your way but I do think this maybe the missing bit of the jigsaw as far as newbie uptake goes.
Anyhow, I've taken some tentative steps into learning java so we'll see how that goes.

As you probably know, MDM source code is freely available so if you want you can carck on it or start from scratch using MDM source code as a reference.
