Hi all
I have plugged MD in to two machines directly, no hubs, tried usb 2 and 3 in one pc (windows 8.1), usb 1 and 2 in the other (windows 10). Device manager shows Megadrum driver present and working in sound cards.
But in the manager app all attempts are coming up in red " midi init error". What am I doing wrong?
Assigned midi ports in Megadrum to my copperlan virtual ports 5in/5out thru6
Megadrum led panel menu>firmware>26/8/15
Thanks
Ben

I have now enabled the megadrum midi usb 1 io in copperlan, then assigned megadrum usb 1 io to virtual ports 5 and 6 in copperlan utility. They then are patched - 5 to megadrum manager and 6 to reaper. I am now recieving midi in to reaper and also connected in the manager. Looking good.
megadrum usb 2 io I have left unregistered to copperlan so that reaper can directly grab them
Cheers

MegaDrum has 2 USB MIDI ports for a purpose: one to control it with MDM and another for use by a soft synth at the same time without causing conflict between MDM and soft synth.

Thanks Dmitri, have removed unneccessary virtual cabling in copperlan and MD now unregistered from copperlan network. Md usb1 is owned by mdm and md usb2 is owned by reaper/protools/live. I wrongly assumed md usb2 only outputted sysex and midi thru.
So now, moving forward, MIDI INIT ERROR is solved. At least I know the MD class 1 drivers can work patched into a midi network such as copperlan if I wanted to pipe it around the lan to devices running independently of my DAW.
FYI I am using cheap usb over Ethernet extenders to extend usb from the main DAW in the machine room and 15m through the walls into control room to MD successfully (so far).
Peace.
