does the ATMEGA1284P serves as a replacement of the 644, 324 or 32? the problem is that it has been impossible for me to find the atmega 32, 324 and the 644 and the seller told me that it worked the same firmware with both 1284p and 644...
is that possible?

It is theoretically possible but I've never tried it.
