Help with Roland cymbals.

Postby ulfaxx » Thu Dec 31, 2015 5:54 pm

Hi, i've been writing this post for awhile now, but never actually posting it. but I have no idea what to do or what is wrong.

The problem is with my two crashes. CY 15 and cy 13. It worked better when I had them as "single piezo" and not dual.
It triggers on the bow but not on the edge, and every hit MDM says is a rim hit. When I used them a "single piezo" they trigger alright most of the time but they missed hits when striking the repeatedly.

I post a screenshot of the settings.

Thanks and happy New year / Ulf

Did you follow point 2 from http://www.megadrum.info/forums/viewtop ... f=3&t=1968 setting it up?

Dmitri, yes I have done that. The values for the edge threshold come from that. When I did it on my Yamaha pcy155 it worked perfectly.

Have I set up the choke right? With function "cutoff" and alt note for choke note?

I've had similar problems with the vh-13, that is misses some hits. But it gotten much better after trying different settings.

I use addictive drums so I don't really need 2 zones its just for the choke.

If you followed it then post settings screenshot and describe the problem again with these settings (btw, I'm not quite sober at the moment).

Dmitri, It's new years so i think you're forgiven ;)

Those are the settings i got from your guide. The problem is the edge zone misses everything but the lighter hits. The bows triggers light and Heavy hits. MDM says its rim hit no matter where i strike it, Perheps because bow and edge has the same Note?

If it is a 3way Roland cymbal, why did you connect it to inputs 8/9 and 18/19 ? It must be connected to 2 subsequent stereo jacks (4 subsequent inputs).

CY-15R is a 3 zone cymbal. (Piezo/switch/switch) CY-13 is also a three way.

I have in my library of configurations. Have a look. https://powerhell.wordpress.com/about/z ... d-library/

Best regards

Besides that Roland 3way cymbals must use 2 subsequent stereo jacks, the first input's Type must be set to '3way Roland'.
Also, Threshold on the Switch inputs are not set right. With Gain 4 it should be around 20 and with Gain 8 it should be much higher but most importantly Threshold level must be adjusted in such a way that when you press the switch you reliably get MIDI Aftertouch On messages and when you release the switch you reliably get MIDI Aftertouch Off messages.

Dmitri, i connected them to 8/9 and 18/19 because i only use Bow/edge i dont use the bell switch. The cy15 is 8/9 input and cy13 is the 18/19 input. Can't I use them just with bow/edge?

Hi angr77, your pad library was the first thing i tried when starting this megadrum project again. But does settings haven't worked very well for me. And i tried setting up the cy15 like you have. I loaded our advanced 32.mds file. The only note in MDM is 62 (rim hit)

By the way i might have a vh-13.sys for your library if your intressed.
