missing notes on my hi hat (VH-11)

Hello everyone...

I use my VH-11 with the settings in the 'advanced' ROM kit, and I have problems with missing notes as soon as i play a little bit faster 16ns or doulble-strokes.

I tried to tweak the settings to get around it, but have not succeeded. It is as if retrigger mask was set really high (100ms or so). Has anyone experienced this, and come up with a solution?

Cheers,

/Jakob

can you post a screenshot of the MDM settings?

As I mentioned. The settings from the 'advanced' ROM kit. Only adjustment is a little increase in threshold to eliminate false triggering.

1. Is it 3 zone or 2 zone cymbal? If it is 2 zone then you must set BThreshold (3rd zone Threshold) to 0.
2. Did you try to reduce DynLevel and DynTime on both bow and edge? They seem too high.

Thank you Dmitri for the tips. They seem to help a little bit, but the problem is still very apparent.

I made a little experiment, where i logged the hits on my VH-11 in two different tempos. I first made a rim hit for reference. Then I played 16 x 1/16 hits in a specific tempo. In the case that all hits where registered, the green edge note was pushed out to the left. If notes where not registered, you can see how many was missed by counting the steps left.

Attaching the results (first page shows my current settings)

As you can see, there is a significant number of notes lost.

I believe I know what is the cause of the problem. Can you please try this: In the LCD Menu scroll to any menu item showing a Curve instead of hit bars and then test again.

Now that was an interesting theory :)
I tried to do what you said, but unfortunately the problem is still there.. I also noticed that altering between bow and edge hits makes it much worse. It seems that after a edge hit, if the next hit is on the bow, it almost never gets detected.

But sometimes, over a few seconds, it works really well. So it seems not to be a constant state.

Out of curiosity, what does the 'hits intervals' value mean? it is always 0 or 1 ms

I'm working on this right now and I think I'll have a fix for it soon. It affects MegaDrums with graphical LCDs and the larger 2.2" LCD more so due to 4x time data sent to it.

I was trying to measure intervals between hits but unfortunately Java is not real time so it is pretty much useless.
