Positional Sensing: Roland or Alesis Wiring Preference?

Postby Stiletto » Sat Jul 29, 2017 6:37 pm

After spending all morning reading through posts on this forum regarding piezo wiring and positional sensing, I wanted to make sure I had the correct understanding before soldering. In a current model Megadrum with positional sensing add-on board installed, can anyone tell me definitively whether it matters if a dual zone snare pad is wired using the Roland versus the Alesis wiring schematic? Based on what I've read, I'm leaning towards no but it would be great if Dmitri or someone with definitive knowledge of it could confirm this.

Thanks in advance! John

Hi!

The PS board will rectify the signal regard less of the connection. So as long as you have the piezo centrally mounted for the drum where you plan to use PS on...it does not matter if the wires are mixed between positive or negative pole. The ps board will handle this and deliver a positive first wave to be able to determine the position where the stick is hit.

Best regards

Thank you for responding back and confirming it does not matter, that's what I thought. :)
