Thanks to Synthex, MegaDrum is now fully "plug-n-play". With PIC18F2550 USB MIDI Board you can plug MegaDrum into your computer and drivers will be automatically installed (at least in Windows). It will appear in the list of MIDI In/Out devices as "USB Audio Device". I'll publish more info on the website soon. Again, big thanks go to Synthex!

Attached is a contributed by Synthex latest firmware version for PIC18F2550 USB MIDI Board and a PCB design for it in a DipTrace format.

Hmmmm, does this mean a new board design for the USB portion? Or can I still use the same board that previously uses the atmega8?

You can't use the same board that uses the atmega8.

I'll publish a PCB design for the board tonight once I've checked that Low Voltage Programming on a factory shipped PIC18F2550 is possible or not (the design depends on this).

Since you included ICSP I understand that this simple programmer will work with it? Did you you disable LVP in the MIDI firmware? (you did in CDC firmware)
