Missing hits an other problems

I have some problems with missing hits in the snare.

The config is:
same settings for the two zones
dual zone double piezo
minscan 30
retrigger 12
dyn 6
dyntime 64
autolevel no
highlevel 1023 (head) 900 (rim)
threshold 30
alternative algorythm Yes
3rd zone enabled with threshold 40 or 50

My snare is a DIY 12'' mesh pad with 2 zones

THe thing is that soft and normal hits are triggered correctly but when I smash the mesh, sometimes I get a 127 head hit, and sometimes a soft rim hit.

For dual piezo/piezo pads it is very important that HighLevel for both zone are set right. In your case it appears the HighLevel for the head (and possibly for the rim) indicates that it is too hot. How did you come up with 1023 level?

Also, you AltFalseTrSupp set to Yes and considering your Rettrigger is quite high I would suggest decreasing DynLvl and/or DynTime at least for the head.

Just wondering why you would have the 3rd zone enabled on a 2 zone pad? I would set the midi keynumber and bthreshold to zero to disable the zone otherwise it could trigger rogue midi events.

I also think Dmitri is right that your highlevels are too high...whats your gain setting on the head?

With autolevel set to yes I reach 1019 or something like that. I will try decreasing dyn level and time.

What really happens to me, now I see megadrum LCD is that hitting the head hard (no rolling) sometimes the rim bar goes up, instead of the head bar.

macca2004, I set 3rd zone enabled because with dualpiezo pads you can have a 3rd zone if you hit both zones at the same time. In the snare this is translated into a rimshot midi note, what is really cool to play ;)

Other problems I have. What can be wrong if I set my VH-11 hihat pad to piezo/switch. Curve log1/log1, xtalk 2/2, threshold 30/30, gain 0/0, autolevel no/no, high level 1022/1023, retrigger 12/12, dyn 6-64/6-64, minscan 30/30.... to get ALWAYS the rim trigger?

Shouldn't the rim and head piezo thresholds be different? ... i think you need to up the threshold on the rim piezo..

You also need to sort out your level inputs. Since I added pots to my pads they have been so much better in both dynamics, velocity and retriggering. Its the best 50p I ever spent!!

I have dual piezos on my pads but they are disabled...i might tinker with them tomorrow and see what I come up with.

How do you lay the pots, in series, or in parallel? Can you make a small explanation of which are the possibilities to cool them down and pros and cons?

Also, which value is recommended if I get the highest level (only a bit above my maximum strengh) with all gains low?

If it is a DIY pad, it is better to make it cooler physically, e.g. moving a cone for mesh heads.
You can use a voltage divider to lower signal from the piezo. The goal is to get such a signal that with HiLvlAuto set to Yes you get HighLevel no more than ~900-950.

I aim at getting an initial 700-800 highlvl then it gives me a bit of upward headroom for adjustment. I find that the level set by autohighlvl is a bit severe especially on the snare, so i generally increase or decrease it to suit my playing style.

You don't need to add a resistor to your rim piezo, either move it to another area on your shell or add an extra layer of doulble sided tape....
