Problems with firmware update under OSX 10.5.8.

Postby B4Fan » Thu Dec 22, 2011 2:17 am

Hello forum,
I have a problem with the firmware update for the MegaDrumModul with a Macbook Pro (OSX 10.5.8). Mandolane is installed and I can edit the MGM with the MegaDrum Manager ("live updates", "get all" "Firmware vers." and s.o. is working). When I try to make an firmware update with the manager (after switching the modul in the update mode) the manager says that the modul don't respond. The chain ID is 0 (modul and manager). Same problem with a second MBP (with Mandolane) with 10.6.8. In this constellation the modul goes from the "StartUpdateOnPC" menu directly to the "Dmitri" page without waiting for the update. Does anyone has a solution ?

What are the names of MIDI interfaces you select in MDM?
Does MDM detect the firmware version?

Please, describe what you do step by step when you try to upgrade the firmware, starting with:

1. Plug MegaDrum in and turn it on.
2. Start MDM.

1. Plug MegaDrum in and turn it on.
2. Start MDM.
3. Check if there is a connection between MDM and modul (red activity LED at the modul and Get all)
4. Go to firmware upgrade (MDM)
5. Load the bin file (megadrum1284_56_20111213.bin)
6. Restart modul
1. Power of modul
2. push and hold left rotary knob
3. power on the unit (red LED is blinking)
4. release left rotary knob
7. select 20 MHz with the upper black push bottom
8. push the lower black push bottom (display shows: StartUpdateeOnPC)
9. start upgrade (MDM)
10. MDM says: Megadrum is not responding

with OSX 10.5.8 after pos 8 the modul display is waiting till pos 9. + 10. are done. Then it goes to the Skachkov page and then to main VU meter page

with OSX 10.6.8 after pos 8 the modul display goes directly to main VU meter page without waiting for pos 9

It will then have to wait till I have my hands on OS X 10.6
Meantime, I would suggest to borrow a PC to upgrade the firmware.

Are there important changes between 20111127 and 20111213 ?

You need the latest firmware version in MegaDrum to be able to get/send Misc settings from MDM.
