I`m still trying to dial in the positional sensing ...
Don`t know what could be the problem. Maybe too low values for dyntime, dynlevel and threshold. They are 0, 1 and 1 respectively.

BTW, I`m using quartz triggers on a crossbar, and roland`s mesh head.

Hi Best Friend!

I have bought a couple of Quartz Percussion Triggers...but have not installed them yet. However, I do have a snare where I have used the 682DRUMS triggers on a crossbar and the PS stuff seems to work very well here. I was rehearsal with this snare this week...and there was no problem to get it to send the right PS information from center to edge over cc16 with good results. (20130210 and ARM based MegaDRUM board)

I do will recall when testing the PS function the last time on a older firmware (and it could even have been a ATMega based board)...the PS CC info was very "jumpy" and hazardordus...

I could fetch my values from my device and share when testing with the Quartz triggers. (FYI: I started to play around with using PS on my CY-15R ride...which works quite okey as well...)

Best Regards

Hi Anders,

Yup, that would be great if you could post your values. Maybe I can try something along those lines.
Also, anybody else with a good PS on his snare.
Don`t know if atmega vs arm makes any difference regarding PS ...

Hi there Everson.

I have now tried the Quartz 35 mm dual triggers on harness http://www.quartzpercussions.com and MegaDRUM (ARM based). First I must say that the Quartz triggers was extremely easy to dial in. It became good directly...it did not matter so much how you were setting the dynamic parameters etc..It was good from the beginning. No dead spots and very sensitive on the edges on my Sonor 14" snare with Drum-Tec Pro meshheads.

When testing the Positional Sensing...I must say that the received result was the best I ever seen. Setting the PS for the snare to value 2 and PS low level to 12 and high to 34...I got it to move very smooth between the edge and center over cc 16 and midi values from 0 (edge) and 127 (center). Addictive Drums then selects drum sound based on the cc midi value. Very smooth! My MD figures reflect a 15 k resistor on the snare port.

Thanks a lot for trying it, Anders.
Seems pretty much like mine, except I have lower dyn and threshold values. But I tried that as well - no success - I keep getting 11,12 or 13 wherever I hit.
Strangely, I have great triggering, sensitive and with no false triggers. But no PS.
I think the only area to investigate now is hardware. Maybe it has something to do with the height of the cone ...

Hi Everson.
Just for curiosity..what is your settings on threshold, dynamic stuff? I tried to run at 0 zero for both values...and I did not got any false triggering...but to be safe..I raised it slightly anyway.

Strange regarding the PS stuff...I am guessing you mean that cc16 only send midi values between 12-14 regardless where you hit. True?
Have you really set the PS settings right. It is a little confusing on the MD - It has a array scenario...but I am guessing you are more skilled than I and know about this! News: This is mapped in the new MDM version for each drum, which makes it a bit easier...but this requires a firmware change.

Yes, It could be the the sensor...but If you have good triggering...I would not believe this...

Just a note: i have wired my triggers according to the Roland standard, where the meshhead tip connects to the piezo brass part. (Inverted)

The rim is wired as usual.

Best Regards

Just tried lowering the cone a bit (from 4mm to 2mm)...
Nothing changed, except the hotspot decreased (which is good, ofcourse).

I think I`ll give up on the PS ... :(
