i have some troubles going from open to closed (even though it shows up "smooth" on the MCT/MD "scale")

In BFD2 you have to put a mark in Engine->All hh variable or you won't get any closed sounds. Default it's off like this:

Hello.

I want to make a DIY optical hi-hat pedal. I've been watching that components use to do it and I found this:

http://es.farnell.com/vishay-semiconduc ... dp/1470056

data Sheet:

http://www.vishay.com/docs/83795/tcnd5000.pdf

Think you can serve?

I wonder whether, if feasible, would serve the same schematic that dmitri suggested in this post or requires a different circuit?

greetings.

That probably won't work. You have to have a way to get something in between them to turn off the transistor. That is a reflective type. I suppose you could use a mirror or something to go past them and reflect the light. I don't know though.

Hello to all

i use synthex 56K kit and for my optical hihat i use dimitris schematic on page 2 in this thread. Switch 1 on synthex kit is set to +5 V on ring. The LED is lightning and on the sleeve i get 0.2 to 3.77 V depending on the pedal position.

But there is no reaction in MD. Sometimes if i change LowLevel or HiLevel, the midi-led is lightning and in midox i can see CC messages. I made all possible changes e.g. AltIn=Yes/No, Impendance settings set to low/hi and so on but nothing happens.

What can i do to get the pedal working?

Many thanks and best regards

Sometimes? If? You must adjust LowLevel or HiLevel to best suit your particular HiHat pedal and make sure that LevelsAuto is set to No before doing this this.

Thank you, dimitri.

I made this:

AltIn=no

LowLevel=80
HiLevel=243

i got CC 01/02 permanently and the midi-LED stood lightning. No changes if i press or release the pedal.

LowLevel=244
HiLevel=477

i got CC 7e/7f permanently and the midi-LED stood lightning. No changes if i press or release the pedal.

LowLevel=80
HiLevel=477

i got CC 4b/4c permanently and the midi-LED stood lightning. No changes if i press or release the pedal.

if i decrease any of the above HiLevel values one point, the LED is off, i got no CC Mesages anymore but i got no changes if i press or release the pedal.

1. Make sure you use the low impedance HiHat pedal input
2. Set AutoLevels to No
3. Set LowLevel to 242, HiLevel to 243
4. Set AutoLevels to Yes
5. Press the pedal a few times.

What values do LowLevel and HiLevel have now?

Sorry, the values won't change. Still 242 and 243

If i set AltIn to Yes,

LowLevel =242
HiLevel=892

but no pedal reaction

The cause is one of these:
1. You are not using the low impedance input.
2. There is no voltage change on the input when you press the pedal.
3. You connected the pedal incorrectly. It should be: sleeve - ground, ring - power, tip - input signal.

i have my back to the wall. Let me show you some pictures:

4.97V between sleeve and ring

Image

3,69V between sleeve and ring in the jack

Image

3.31V between sleeve and tip in the jack

Image

if i press the pedal (in this case with my finger) i get 3.31V to 0.09V between sleeve and tip, depending on the pedal position

i hope you have any ideas more to solve my problem.

Best regards
