Input Jacks PCB

Postby primal65 » Thu Dec 16, 2010 8:29 am

I'm was hoping someone would let me use their input jack PCB design. I'd prefer to have done it myself, but I've tried to learn how to do it in Kicad. I'm not exactly sure how to implement the correct pin distances for the Neutrik NYS216 jacks.

Anyway, I want to use 2 boards with 9 jacks on one and 8 on the other like some of the other users have designed. If anyone could post their PCB print outs that would be much appreciated.:)

Regards, Primal

I'm building Dmitri's 32 input version that he's posted all the schematics for in http://www.megadrum.info/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=266. Dmitri's programmed the atmega 644 chip for me,

I haven't seen where anyone has done a jacks board for this PCB. The best way to learn is to dive in and try to design one. If you have to design your own footprints for Kicad, you can find datasheets on whatever jack you use to get the dimensions from. I use Eagle and I have footprints for a couple of different jacks for it. Eagle is a free PCB program that I use all the time I can give you the libraries for it if you are interested.

Yea, that'd be great. The footprints were the problem, as I couldn't find one in the library to match mine and I was stumped on how to create one.

The Eagle Cad library that I use that has the footprint you need is HERE. Download the gm-lbr.zip and you will find it in the gm-jacks library. Let me know if you can't make sense of all that.

I know this is an older thread, but I created a complete library of about 25 Neutrik Jacks for KiCad, complete with footprints and 3D models - what I can't figure out is how to copy out or find these "virtual store" directories that KiCad writes new .mods, etc too...If anyone can help me figure this out I'll be able to share the jack library and 3D models via my site and through my Git repository.

Thanks,
Don.
