Big step forward !! :)

First of all I wasn't quite enough accurate describing the 4 positions so here again, more specified:

1. not touching the bottom plate (on an acoustic set this is the position for playing fully open)

2. touching the bottom plate only by letting my foot rest relaxed on the pedal (on an acoustic set this is the position for playing half open)

3. increasing the pressure just a little bit by lifting my heel (on an acoustic set this is the position for playing closed)

4. actively applying some pressure using my leg (on an acoustic set this is the position for playing tightly closed)

I switched polarity of the high-hat control output (I didn't change the highlvl/lowlvl values). I still only get the 2 different vu meter positions (completely full and completely empty) / sounds (fully open and tightly closed) BUT now the switching from "vu full" to "vu empty" takes place already at position 3

I got a feeling we are approaching the wanted result. Now I assume we have to get ...

... the vu meter to being empty at position 4

... the vu meter to being 1/3 full at position 3

... the vu meter to being 2/3 full at position 2

... the vu meter to being completely full at position 1
(this is already the case)

You have got to start from step 1.

Now the vu meter gets empty (when pressing the pedal down) even with lowlvl values of way under 100 ...

at lowlvl 16 there is one bar and the smaller bar, at lowlvl 17 there is only one (consistent) bar but the red light keeps blinking a little, at lowlvl 19 the blinking is gone

btw now, after setting the lowlvl back to 100, there are intermediate steps on the vu meter ...

For better understanding, the one stable bar on the vu meter without blinking should that normally appear at position 3? And should position 4 make the vu meter completely empty?

There always will be one bar on every VU meter - this is an "empty" VU meter. In your case this should happen in the pedal position 4, and there shouldn't be MIDI LED blinking. All other pedal positions should show 2-8 bars.

Ah no, there has been a misunderstanding, I've been working all the time with thi big vu meter. The "lowest" point of the big vu meter seems to be no bars at all ... Now I switched to the normal vu meters, those always have one bar minimum. I thought it would be better to use the big vu meter because it is more accurate. So did I get this right, "completely empty, no bars at all" on the big vu meter means the same as the one horizontal bar that is always displayed on the small vu meters?

Ok then I will just continue working with the big vu meter, I find adjusting much better with it than with the little one.

So now I have to look for the lowest possible lowlvl value that makes the big vu meter completely empty in position 4 ...? That would be 25.

Yes. Now you need to find the best HighLvl.

There is no difference between highlvl 26 or 1023 ... the meter is always full ...
