3 zone cymbal support, Yamaha style. How many of you need it

3 zone cymbals, Yamaha style. Do you want me to add support for them in MegaDrum?

I have both MegaDrum and Yamaha cymbals, please do it.

I have Yamaha cymbal. Lack of Yamaha 3 zone cymbals support is a showstopper for building MegaDrum.

I have MegaDrum. If you do it, I'll buy 3 zone cymbals Yamaha style.

I have MegaDrum. I'll live happily without support for such cymbals.

If you do it, I will rebuild all my DIY cymbals to have the Yamaha 3zone design.

I have neither of them, only 2 (3 at most) persons have MegaDrum, your poll is stupid.

Hi,
I have the same problem like Maylord.war with my PCY150S.
All 3 zone works very fine, but a little harder hit on the bow triggers the edge sound. Is there now a solutions for this problem?

You should just raise edge's threshold.

The edge threshold works only between 20 - 23, otherwise the choke signal will not work.

Rather than touching the Edge Threshold you probably want to raise BThreshold. But it is in theory as I myself don't have the problem of false bow/edge triggering with my PCY135.

You may also try raising Gain on the Edge to 7-8. It will widen the range of possible Threshold settings on the Edge and improve Bow/Edge separation. You will have to re-adjust (raise) Edge Threshold/BThreshold after increasing Gain.

I adjust the Edge Gain and Threshold/BThreshold but without success. Only a Threshold of 23 detects the Edge-Switch for choking. Lower values detects the Bell-Switch for choking.
The Edge-Switch is connected to a 10k series resistor. Perhaps this value is not optimal for Megadrum? Makes it sense to change the resistor, to get a higher difference to the Bell-Switch?

Are you saying that Edge/Bell separation doesn't work with Gains above 4? Post your settings with Gain set to 7 and I will see what is wrong.

Only a Threshold of 23 detects the Edge-Switch for choking. Lower values detects the Bell-Switch for choking.

What happens when you set it to 22? What happens when you set it to 24?

It is a perfect value for MegaDrum as you may have seen from people using Yamaha 3-zone cymbals. Your problem is elsewhere. Btw, Is your PCY150 brand new?

Here are my settings:

When I set the Edge-Threshold to 23 or 24 it is ok. Set to 22, the choke signal did not work. Set to 25, the sound is triggered shortly and than a choke signal is send.
The PCY150S is not new.

Setting Gain to 7, I can set the BThreshold to 22. But a harder hit on the Bow triggers allways the Edge sound.

I'm not sure but it might be part of the problem.

Set Gain to 7, BThreshold to 0 and start raising Threshold on the Edge until you get reliable choke and edge triggering without loosing bow triggering. After that start rasing BThreshold until you get reliable bell triggering. What Threshold and BThreshold values do you get at the end?
