1. Set Big VU meter to Yes
2. Set LowLevel to 840
3. Set HighLevel to 910

Now exit the menu and watch the VU meter while slowly pressing the pedal and then slowly depressing it. What do you observe?

Now that is Sexy!!!

Full sweep from 100% to 0%. VU jumps from 100% to about 85%, its a little blocky, but giving me about 7-8 steps from right to left. There is a little gradual decrease in between the blocky steps, but it looks good. Going to give it a shot with my VST and see how it sounds...

Everything is acting quite nicely after configuring to my VST. I played with the curve values a bit and found Log 3 to be the most accurate as far as spacing is concerned for HH Pedal. I'm not sure what is different in this firmware, but it seems to be lagging a bit when I fully close or open the pedal.

From fully closed to fully open, and vice versa, the is about a 1 to 1 and a half second delay. Is that an easy fix?

Kudos my friend, great job and thank you soooo much!!! i was starting to think id need to send it to you!!

Good, we're on the right track!

It's not a final version. I'll give you few more versions to test. May be even tonight.

I bet there will be a few MegaDrummers grateful to you for your help and patience in helping to improve support for Roland HiHat controllers!

If you want tests expanded to also include the vh-11 and the new firmware, I am available and ready.

I am impressed of this marathone thread!!

Best regards

That's no problem, I will gladly test any beta's you have anytime. This is very fun for me and I'm glad we got to work together to figure it out. I'm all about moving forward with the times, and glad to help any of these guys, especially if they want to now upgrade their Hi Hats!

Dmitri,

If you are working on the firmware, I noticed that I could not send or receive HiHat Pedal info to or from Megadrum thru MDM... Not sure why, everything else is working, except the values aren't transferring for that...

ibanman555, please test this firmware:
megadrum_20121207_3.zip

specifically for response speed. Use the same settings as your last ones.

Are you sure you're using the latest MDM version - 20121202? Does it report Sysex error in red (right above LCD setting in MDM)?

Anders, can you load the 20121207_3 firmware version and compare the results with your vh-11 against the last published firmware version?

Ibanman555,

I have always had problems to read pedal configuration from MD>MDM if not using a external powered usb hub. This is also valid for the new MDM version. Lets open another thread about this.

I will verify the VH-11 with the last firmware.
