Yes, it can go supercritical and explode.

Hi Dmitri, all,

I have got nearly everything in place now. Just soldering a few connections to Jack sockets so I can set things up and test it out. I was reading about initial config and setting up Pic chip and see it talks about using ICSP or MIDI. I don't have a parallel port on my PC and only have a MIDI to USB cable. I was kind of hoping I could do this set up just through the USB port on the board. I have also seen something about not necessarily needing the Rotary Pots connected up?
I have now powered it up with a USB connected to my PC. LCD comes on and I get info and then 2 lines, but up down etc buttons don't do anything. Is this because pots are not hooked up or something more.

I am floundering a bit and feeling a bit dim so any help gratefully accepted.

Well I'm getting a bit closer. Sussed out buttons issue. Some confusion on drawings I have as to which connector they go to. Now I have changed it they are working, so one down.

Sorry guys, next question. Should C15 which is a 10uF capacitor be getting really hot? I just burned my finger on it.

No. Most likely you soldered the capacitor with incorrect polarity.

Right then, Thanks Dmitri. I fixed that and checked all others etc out and I cant see any obvious issues now. Connected all up to my PC and now it stays on the Megadrum Info screen of menu. LED is on and power getting through. I have plugged in MIDI in and out, but only have midi to USB cable, and powering via USB to PC as well. What next? Any suggestions? Just to add got Atmega from you just recently and when turning on it tells me it has Firmware version 20130612 20MHz. if that helps or makes a difference. When reading up I cannot seem to find a way to programme Pic Chip as described on site.

It doesn't seem to want to do anything. It stays on the info page of menu, not going into the second page showing triggers. Only thing I see on my PC when connected is that there is a Midi USB adapter connected. Not sure what to look for and how to move forward.

Which is true? If the last one is true, what has changed between earlier and now?
99.99% of problems come from soldering errors/shorts/breaks.
