Thanks for info ignotus, I have tried all this and get nothing still. I have tried it both with Mac and garageband and with Addictive drums through VSTHost and neither gives me anything from my Megadrum. I am at a loss really. If i run it without pic can I just ignore it or does it need to be removed? Any other ideas why it doesn't seem to be getting anything from my Midi USB cable, or don't I need this either, should it run with just the USB cable connected to the board. My PC does not seem to be recognising it though?

Lots of questions I know sorry to be a pain, any help gratefully received.

Just ignore it.

You need the Midi usb cable to send and receive midi data. The usb cable is providing power, so you'll need that plugged in too.

Recognising what? The midi-usb cable or the MD->PC usb cable? As stated, unless the pic has the firmware the PC will not recognise it. If your PC does not detect the midi-usb cable then that is probably the cause of your problems and is likely an issue with the cable itself or with drivers on your PC. Does the midi-usb cable have a LED that lights up when midi notes are sent? Most do, so if it blinks when you hit pads, the problem is probably in the PC, and if not, you'll need to check for faults on the board because your MD might not be sending any midi notes.
If it ain't broken... fix it until it is.

Fair point ignotus. I have started a new topic "Megadrum 56i single board setup issues", http://www.megadrum.info/forums/viewtop ... t=0#p24520

Be glad of your input if I get stuck further.

Guys,

I'm planning to build a megadrum module, but I ordered only four 4851, and where do I live it's impossible to find more of them.

It is ok to build this design and only mount the first four 4851?
By doing that only the pins that are connected to the other three 4851 wont work, or there are some other problems?
The last unencrypted version will work with this design?

I plan to build it, and if I succeed building my module and convert my drums to electronic, to buy the encrypted atmega from Dimitri.

Cheers

It'll be fine, and yes, the last unencrypted firmware will work.

Anybody know how to use the positional sensing add-on board with this design?

Edit: figured it out.

Hi, I tried to create an input jack board for this design and wanted to get feedback if the schematic I did is correct. I plan to include the precision rectifiers for positional sensing and hihat buffer on the board as well so you will see it and that is where I particularly need help with.

Also did a schematic of rotary encoder with buttons and want to check if correct. Your comments are highly appreciated.
