Postby krossbeat » Wed Apr 23, 2014 11:35 am

Dear Dmitri,
I am from India, my name is Jestin, i am so excited about all those guys who have made their MegaDrum and are have commented on the forum. I am planning to build my Megadrum, I have purchased all the components mentioned in the documentation ( buying components ).
now i want to make my PCB in the process Etching ( toner transfer method) I need the PCB board track design, where can i download the PCB pattern in PDF format. do we have an all in one board pattern, if not could you help me find the PCB track for even the mini board with rotary encoders.

Thanks
Jestin

You missed two sticky/announcement topics right at the first page of this subforum:
MegaDrum FAQ. Read it before posting in this forum!
Latest MegaDrum schematics. 32 inputs.

If you would use search recommendations from MegaDrum FAQ. Read it before posting in this forum! you would have also found single PCB design: http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q= ... o%2Fforums

Dear Dmitri,
Few doubts.
can i use these compatibles for the model 56i

1. IC1 to 9 IC 4851 Available > IC 4051
2. IC6 24LC256 Available > 24C256

Would there be any difference in performance if we use compatibles.

Thank you
jestin.

You cannot replace 4851 with 4051
You can possibly replace 24LC256 with 24C256. There are many alternatives to 24LC256, you just need to make sure that specs are the same or close.

Dear Dmitri,
i have my board done, drilled all the holes and placed the components.yet to solder.
a few more clarifications

1. can i use potentiometers ( POT) instead of rotary encoders,(encoders are not available)
2. do the pot move in steps or should it have a smooth flow.
3. what is the capacity of the pot i or encoder i should be using.
4. after etching the PCB it is getting oxidized , what is the green or blue coat you have
been using.
5. can i use button switches like some of them have used instead of rotary encoders.

Thank you
jestin,

Encoders are optional, you can use it just with buttons.

4. after etching the PCB it is getting oxidized , what is the green or blue coat you have

I don't know, I don't make PCBs myself. You can use any permanent marker.

Read the warning in red in the first post of the topic.

1. now i got the ic Atmega 644. how do i programme it.

With an ISP cable from http://www.megadrum.info/schematics.php and programmer, e.g. PonyProg.

2. What is a boot loader,

Bootloader is a piece of MCU firmware which allows to load another firmware into the same MCU without using a hardware programmer.

3. how do i get the mega drum going from here.

By using WWW search instruments, reading on what you're searching for and if your questions are not answered, post you specific questions here.

4. in the 56i what is the keyboard pin used.

They're clearly marked in the schematics.

5. please help me to complete this step by step

Step-by-step is the right way to do it.
