Please, test this firmware version:
megadrum_20140414.zip

Hopefully it should eliminate false bow triggering after chick/splash.

Hi!

I think my VH-11 became better with the new firmware... from time to time some false triggers have occurred in the past when playing with a lot of action on the hi-hat pedal. I have not studied the problem in detail... so I can only refer to the feeling... which now became better!

Best Regards

Dmitry, it's awsome! Great work!!)) It works perfectly!
Only thing I added is filtering out 1-velocity chicks.
I'll explain. In order to pick up chick velocity reliably and also to suppress all the false hits I have to set ChickThresh far before the Closed threshold:
Closed: 108
ChickThresh: 34
At this foot-controller level (34) the hi-hat is not closed yet, therefore when I'm closing hi-hat from the open state slowly and simultaneously hitting the bow, this little 1-velocity chicks choke half-opened high-hat sound.
I would introduced PreChickThresh which will mean what now ChickThresh means except that the chick-note is not emitted (i.e. registering chick velocity and beginning of false hits suppression)
And at ChickThresh level chick-note is emitted!
So the config would be:
Closed: 108
PreChickThresh: 34
ChickThresh: 51

What about if I just filter out chicks with velocity less then say ~2-5? Are chicks with low velocity useful at all?

I think low velocity chicks might be useful. Though proposed approach provides more accurate chick triggering, 'cos now the chick-notes emitted a bit before than they should to. But, ok, I agree it's not that important. So filtering out chicks with low velocity would be fine. Could the threshold be not 2-5 but kind of -8. Is it possible to do it in a following way:
ChickVelThresh.png
when ChickVelMin and ChickVelMax is hardcoded now so let ChickVelThresh also be hardcoded if you don't want to complicate the configuration.

I had the same problem with my VH11 (pressing the pedal causes cymbal strike on the controller and then it triggers a bow note)...I was waiting for a new firmware to fix it...now it seems it has finally come :D

I believe it works as intended then so I made this version "official" and posted it in "Latest MegaDrum firmware version".

Brilliant! Sorry for the late answer. If it still possible could you please lower ChickVelThresh from my graph a little. So that I could easily produce low velocity chicks! Thank you!))

There is a fix for this in the firmware so you should be able to get chicks with velocities from 1.
