random triggering

Postby bladelawless » Tue Dec 13, 2016 2:08 am

ok, gonna ask this here. I have dual zone acoustic kit converted to electric, mesh heads, dual triggers. getting strange random triggering and the snare sounds like a machine gun as soon as I plug a cable into the megadrum. cables are all brand new. I am told this could have something to do with radio interference in my area. I just plugged the same cables into my old Alesis Trigger io and had no issues. Is it possible to have a Megadrum shielded from radio waves? Just don't understand how I can run the Alesis unit for years and never had this issue. Really do not want to send this unit back, it's the only module of it's kind that can do everything a drum module should do and the alternatives quite frankly suck. Thanks in advance.

Settings, info?, anything tangible? Have you plugged the drums in, set threshold?

koby drums - Triggera krigg/Bix - megadrum - Kontakt........... Samples from all and sundry.

well, I'm down to attempting to get one drum at a time working -snare.

I had to turn the gain up to 8 on the head, threshold to 0. Rim's gain is at 6 and threshold to 80 to prevent it from triggering on it's own.

I can get a nice head hit, rim is faint, doing any kind of drum roll is useless, just not triggering fast enough if I hit the snare too many times and this is with retrigger mask set to 0

alright, I think I'm on the right path to getting this solved. I finally got the snare head and rim shots working independently without the false triggers by tweaking the threshold, gain, etc. etc.

just realized there can be no plug and play solution for so many different kinds of pads and each company tailors their modules to their own pad design so that anyone can just plug it in and go unless someone wants less fuss and go with something like an Alesis but the tradeoff is higher latency and less parameters and functionality than a Megadrum.

Definitely not for the impatient. I am pretty sure this will work well once it's all dialed in.

Have you set the high levels?

trying to. I tried setting it up before I realized that setting the high levels are the first step but it doesn't seem to respond after they have already been set once. Not sure if the MD and MDM need to be reset and initialized to default factory settings first or even how that is done yet.
