Switch for Choke on a Crash Cymbal

I have configured the crash to give me a choke works fine, however I'm sure I read that someone had made a switch that had no moving parts just an isolated strip of metal using only the inductive current of fingertips, if this true what settings in MDM and AD2 are needed to be set to pick up what is really only a minute current.

That might have been me. Set the edge as switch and play with threshold until touching it activates it - nothing more to it really.

Thanks Ignotus Does it matter what the conductive metal is?

I wouldn't think so - I tried with guitar strings first and later used a kind of steel mesh cut out from an old frying pan cover.

He he... I had to google who that was.

I also remember that for some reason, edge hits would sometimes​ actually trigger the edge - in theory impossible as no switch gets closed and you're hitting it with a wood stick. The solution was to set the same note and high level for edge and bow so it didn't matter what zone was triggered, you always got a crash sound.
