The controller can only have 1 plug, that goes in the top left socket. Do you have a total of three jacks coming from the hi hat and controller? I doubt it. ONE jack is for the controller and ONE jack is for the cymbal.
If it ain't broken... fix it until it is.

Right, so the top left jack as illustrated in my crappy photo drawing, and the hack below it (not sure what its for) but... Ports 2/3 are for hi hat cymbal. Jack top left, controller. I realize you said top left, tried that, nothing... Just for good measure tried the one below it, nothing... Im guessing there is something I need to configure within the MD manager?

Yes, you have to configure it with settings dependant on the the type of a controller you have. Did you read through http://www.megadrum.info/content/hihat-pedal-settings ?

You have to configure the controller first before trying to get any kind of interaction between the controller and the cymbal.

K, im using Superior Drummer, and I have no idea how to configure it, outside of assigning notes to all of the basic open/close notes, I dont see an area to assign the CC4 in SD 2.0 to the HH controller in MD manager. Any suggestions? I have already tried to fill in the notes in the note section of the HH controller, but still no sound between HH cymbal and controller pedal

1. Is you HiHAt controller a variable controller?
2. Does it use Roland (standard) or Yamaha polarity?
3. Did you set AltIn setting to match the position of the the HiHat pedal impedance switch on the front? The default is AltIn No with the switch in Up position.
4. Did you configure Low and High level in Pedal settings?
5. Does the HiHat pedal VU meter on the LCD follow the pedal positions?
6. What do you mean by 'sound between HH cymbal and controller pedal'?

I don't know... Its a Pearl, the one that comes with the E-pro set

2. Does it use Roland (standard) or Yamaha polarity?
No idea...

3. Did you set AltIn setting to match the position of the the HiHat pedal impedance switch on the front? The default is AltIn No with the switch in Up position.
I dont know how to do this...

4. Did you configure Low and High level in Pedal settings?
No I did not, again, not sure how

5. Does the HiHat pedal VU meter on the LCD follow the pedal positions?
I dont know, hi hat cymbal makes noise, and shows MIDI but pedal does nothing to control the hi hat functions that should be present

6. What do you mean by 'sound between HH cymbal and controller pedal'?
What I mean is... The controller should be interacting with the cymbal, ie, open/close, and other HH articulations. It does nothing... Cymbal works, controller does nothing

Do you think I should just get a Roland? Im wondering if the controller I have is even compatible at this point. In case you need to know, the model is Pearl EPro EHH-1
