Firmware Upgrade Problems (20170628)

Postby The Jamma » Sat Jul 08, 2017 12:05 pm

Hi,

I recently upgraded to MDM 20170522 on my windows 10 laptop.

Then i tried to update the firmware to 20170628. I tried several times and even re-downloaded the zip file. each attempt ended with "MegaDrum did not respond".

I just tried on my other laptop with MDM 20161102 and downloaded the 20170628 firmware and it worked first time!?!?!

Also, good to know if you place a switch mode power supply to near MegaDrum, it goes berserk and MDM does not recognize it, it took me a while to work out there was a PSU underneath!

UPDATE

OK I'm lost if someone could help i'd really appreciate it...

The reason i upgraded MDM and firmware was because i was getting constant "Inter MIDI error" and now, it seems MDM does not reconise teh firmware up date - i.e. its showing ??????? instead of the green firmware update. (on my Win 10 lappy). I should add that Ive tried every combination of midi in/out and the config has a green "OK" by it.

So, i just tried on the other lappy and it works fine??

Perhaps update the firmware first, manually, then MDM.

Hey thanks but I can't see how that would make a difference the new firmware works fine on teh old MDM version on my non-win 10 lappy... I'm beginning to think its a win 10 general midi issue???

Just tried it (link was broken before, sorry forgot to mention that)

Same issue (on win10 lappy) either "sysex version timeout" or "int midi error" - what ever midi in/out configuration i try in "options"

I cant do a get or send all as i cant get a firmware version confirmation....

OK now it seems I'm in the realms of the supernatural...

I just tried (4 times) to install MDMFX on my older lappy and after extraction of the .zip, the extracted file location shows in a window, and after a few seconds, teh window suddenly changes from showing the MDMFX install file to say "folder empty"!

If i click on the MDMFX install file before it dissapears, windos says "file not found" after a few seconds of looking like its installing...

?

A virus? Or more likely not too clever (or way too clever) antivirus?

Blimey, i managed to sneak in the MDMFX install files onto the old lappy through a back rout and it works! Sure enough, it was norton antivirus automatically quarantining the files! It 'seems' to be working fine on old lappy... i seem to have all greens in the firmware and midi and stuff and it seems to be working OK - on the old lappy.

So many, many, thkas Dimtri :)

I just tried it on teh win 10 lappy (the one i need to use for live performance) and it all worked fine for a few seconds but there was a red ?? in teh config confirmation window. I did a get all (thinking that i need to do that to confirm teh config) and got a "sysex version timeout" message. and back to square one.

Then i rebooted teh MD and MDMFX and did a save all and it all looked good, but no midi was being recorded in the midi monitor on MDMFX although it was being sent (according to the screen) by MD.

The midi setup is the same as teh successful setup ('same midi I/O', and 'MegaDrum USB midi' input) but now it constantly shows "sysex version timeout".

Errr, ok just looked to check and now its showing "sysex MCU Type timout" with the config green teh FW version green but the MCU is "??????".

I'm really wondering if there is a something random going on?

Its tiring. :(
