Ref. 1. You mean the cable itself won't work ? So it is not required to connect the MD Midiports to PC physically at all - only USB(MD) to USB(PC) ? Or do you mean i need a different cable ?

With a PC you don't need a MIDI cable at all. MegaDrum provides MIDI over USB.

Ref. 2. I tried with selecting "MegaDrum USB Midi" ports as well, no success.
Ref. 3. Yes I tried it as well with version 20170829, it fails also.
Ref. 4. I tried it via MDM and via windows commander (mdfwupdate.exe) and followed these instructions, but no success.

Well now I found out 2 important things:

1.) I haven't seen the small UP/DOWN buttons on the front, because they are very small and not coloured on my module, just black buttons on a black front. I tried all the time by pushing the LEFT and RIGHT buttons, sometimes I got the correct frequency (by chance) sometimes not until I realized, that these two little buttons are the actual UP/DOWN buttons, sorry my fault....

2.) I thought that my MCU would be an AtMega644, but the upgrade always failed, then I tried the Upgrade file for AtMega1284 (file megadrum1284_56_20170628.bin) and IT WORKED !!!

Ok, my module now shows the latest firmware 20170628 20MHz.

But there is something unclear or even wrong, I run the latest MDMFX 20170829 and it shows that I had a AtMega644 MCU, but I have made the upgrade successfully with the megadrum1284 file, what is wrong here ?

It might be a bug in either MDMFX or firmware. I will check.

Hi Dmitri, thank you very much, I could update successfully with megadrum1284_56_20171017.bin and MDM FX shows now the correct MCU.

One question, why it starts by default with 18 inputs though I have a 32 input module ?

MDMFX defaults to the minimal 18 inputs until you pull settings from MegaDrum to MDMFX or until you load settings from a file.

The one which says "Latest all-in-one archive of MegaDrum firmware:" unless you have a desire to load a previous firmware version in which case you choose the one which says "Previous version:".
