just a little question : pin 3 and pin 4 should be connected to what part of the chassis jack ?

I connected :
pin 3 to the tip
pin 4 to the ring
ground to the body

It isn't working with the roland FB 8 (I disassembled it : this is just a switch...bah) with a stereo or a mono jack

shorting pin 3 and pin 4 produce hihat notes though...

Was it the other way around ?
pin 4 to the tip
pin 3 to the ring

by the way, do you know a cheap and rock solid (pot) hi hat controller I could buy ?
(super mega bonus si je peux l'acheter en france ^^)

It's just a switch but from tip, ring ?
A switch must be between pin4 and Ground (with the last firmware).

You can make yourself a cheap and rock solid pot hi-hat controller :
