Chaining two MegaDrums

Postby Mylo » Sat Aug 24, 2019 9:45 pm

I’m now the proud owner of tow 32 input MegaDrums. Now I need to figure out how to chain them together. And how is MegaDrum Manager used to setup each module? I figure the Chain ID is involved.

My current configuration allows me to run MDM and Superior Drummer at the same time. This allows me to make adjustments to the triggers and instantly here the difference in SD3.

I’ve attached a crude picture of my current connections.

How do I work in the 2nd MD module?
What other settings need to be set?

ChainID was only meant for chaining two MegaDrum's over standard MIDI to control from a PC. Literally nobody was using such setup.
If you can connect both MegaDrum to a PC over USB it will be better. You will just have to switch between MIDI ports in MDMFX when you want to configure one MegaDrum or another.

So essentially just get a bigger USB hub and plug my second MegaDrum into it. I’ll give it a shot.

Yes, everything goes to the USB hub which then goes to the PC.

Are you suggesting I run the FocusRite straight to the PC and bypass the hub?

Well If my name was latency and I was looking for a place to hide the hub and audio interface area would be my choice.

When I plug both MegaDrums into the PC I see two sets of the following:

MegaDrum USB MIDI
MIDIIN2 (MegaDrum USB MIDI)

Is there anyway to identify which set goes to which MegaDrum?

I think only by matching LED activity on the module with selected MIDI port in MDMFX.
