@Trommeltotti
I know that the current 2.8 boards have an 8 pin extension. You could very easily hook that up to a Cat5 jack and run a normal ethernet cable between the boxes. You would have to make an extension board and put it in the second box. Best part of this is that Cat5 jacks require no soldering.

@Synthex
Thanks for the great work on both your AIO and inputs boards. If I wanted to add another 24 inputs to my 2.8 board, could I just remove my Atmega32 and replace it with an Atmega644, then make the expansion board? Is there anything else I would have to do? Besides programming of course.

Hi Rubis, check out this thread viewtopic.php?f=3&t=474&hilit=extension, particularly page 3 which has the wiring schematic for a 24 input daughter board and the components required for this. I believe that with an atmega32 you can only add 8 more inputs (4 stereo jacks) and you can save 2 configs and 4 drum maps, with the atmega644 you can get all 24 inputs (12 stereo jacks) and alot more memory.

Thanks kurtus420. I was looking for that page, but couldn't find it. The schematics are also on page 10 of this thread.

I knew that the atmega32 can only add 8 more. I was mostly just looking for confirmation that the only change I needed for 56 inputs was the atmega644.

Synthex, have you made a board layout for the expansion board? I could only find schematics.

No, I have not made a board layout for the expansion board because there was no request.

Thanks for information but I do not understand this. I can pass all that 56 audio signals threw this simple rj45 network (ethernet) cable to the main PCB board inside the MegaDrum interface? I do not believe this! Can you please explain this.

Thanks regards

I believe that connector will only give you an additional 8 inputs.

I second this statement, of coarse dimitri and elrules are great candidates for being the best as well :D
Hell, were all great here, thanks everyone for all the help here. ;)

@Trommeltotti and jeffbeckib

Both wrong. Jeffbeckib, you are correct if using an ATmega32, but with ATmega644 you get an extra 24, not 8.

The Cat5 would work for a break out box with the other 24 inputs. The extension connector is 8 pins. Cat5 is 8 wires, so it can effectively extend the extension port. The 24 inputs would be handled in the second box, you just have to include the board in with the jacks.

Cat5 would not work for the main 32 inputs though. This would only be for the 24 extra inputs.

@kurtus420

Oooh, tough call...
