Firmware Upgrade fails again and again

Go to View->SysEx then Sysex->Configure. List all the settings you have there.

Except from Buffer size, I let all settings by default. I tried to rise Delay up to 100ms, but this didn't help either.

When you do the update can you confirm that you don't experience the issue described here: http://www.megadrum.info/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=268 ? I.e. MegaDrum USB (or USB Audio) always stays in the list of devices in the Device Manager.

Also, can you try the whole procedure with Windows XP?

To be honest, I do not understand the problem mentioned in this thread. When I connect Megadrum to the computer, it is always recognized as "Megadrum USB". Also when I switch into the "Upgrade mode" by pressing left and down. For the time it is connected, it stays in the device manager.

Btw. The same behavior under xp. It also stops at same position as seen in the screenshot. Very strange..I hope I haven't ruined my board.

Before going any further, make the changes as described in the second post of http://www.megadrum.info/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=268

The fact that the MIDI LED doesn't even start to flash means that MegaDrum receives no data from the PC after you've sent 'erase sysex'

Are you sure the erase procedure will have enough time to complete before the PC will start sending firmware part of this sysex?

I've been concatenating it all together for some time with no problems, however I have had Tormentors symptom even with the PIC fix.

Well. The Erase worked but sending the FW failed - so I did the PIC fix which of course means hardware and software.
Since then I have had other symptoms (like the blank LCD coming to life only when a key is pressed) and indeed most of the other oddities which people have been posted in the last couple of months!

Even today, with only a re-written bootloader on board I've had problems with the v2.8
