I agree with you, but motherboard PCB for computers are not done by hand anyway !

It is much easier to do (auto)routing for multilayer PCBs. Plus I think they do manual placing or use some kind of templating

I agree that this is not easy, but DipTrace is bad for that !

I can only speculate here but I think all PCB layout programs are not good at routing with one/two layers PCBs. Multilayer PCBs give such programs much more freedom. In fact DipTrace may turn out to be very good doing autorouting for a motherboard with say 8 layers PCB. And certainly they don't use autoplacing for motherborads because they have to place many bits/things in predefined places.

Here is the DipTrace file of my PCB design for all of you !

Please submit in this topic your modified versions ;)
Thanks !

Synthex,

Thanks for all your innovations for the megadrum. I appreciate them very much. While 32 inputs is really useful for most of us, I myself just need and am content with just 22 inputs not to mention problems looking for a large case to accommodate all the input jacks.

It is for this reason that I request for diptrace schematics for the 22 input version. I have tried doing it on my own but I lack your and Dmitri's expertise.

Dmitri, you are also very welcome to chime in. Maybe we need new versions of schematics for 22 input version with Synthex's innovations already incorporated.

Thanks!

Thanks Estregan ! :)

The problem with 22 inputs version, is that 6 inputs are without multiplexers. We must add diodes and resistances for this 6 inputs !
Otherwise it is possible to make the 32 inputs and only plug 22 inputs ...

Hmmm... would it then be possible to use another IC for the remaining 6 inputs so there would be a total of 3 74hc4851/MAX4558 for the 22 input version? If possible, how would it be connected?

Hi synthex, great work on an already great site (from what i can tell) im afraid to say i am really knew to all this so could use some help if you have a few minutes, what do i need to get that .dip file you put up to open on my mac?? also I am a bit lost (as there are additions all over the place) as to a complete list of what i will need for this project, is it possible to create your new version without a PCB?? (i.e. stripboard) or if not how do i go about getting hold of a PCB? any help you can give me (like a complete componant list ;) ) would be very much appreciated as you seem to be leaps and bounds ahead of me with this stuff.
thanks

No, firmware can't use 3* 74hc4851/MAX4558.

If you only have 3 74hc4851/MAX4558, you can use it with 32 inputs design and 32 inputs firmware, but you'll be able to use only 24 inputs.
