Synthex, I've compiled a firmware which sets MIDI speed to 38400 at the boot if the 'DOWN' key is pressed while MegaDrum is powered up. I attached it in case you want it to test while I'm away from home.

Not really. On a keyless MegaDrum pin 7 of Atmega32 or pin 18 of Atmega8 will just need to be connected to the ground over a 330 Ohm resistor.

Shouldn't it be USB Audio for MIDI? As far as I know USB HID implies 10ms latency penalty and would require a HID->MIDI driver .
