Atmega 644 and/or 18F14K50 problem

I have the same problem you have.

I connect USB on my pc, windows recognizes Megadrum and installs drivers, black boxes on LCD..

Initially, midi LED gets ON with no interruption.. After a few minutes, it gets off and starts blinking, slowly.

I'm watching this post and I'll try (too) reach the problem!

By following the description of your problems, I don't think our problems are alike. My Windows doesn't recognize Megadrum and the LED isn't signalling at all.

I'm not saying I'm the expert here, but you just have different symptoms compared to mine. Still I hope our problems will be solved soon!

Every time I have observed this behavior it was caused by a short circuit in one or more of the inputs. It could be on the circuit board or in one of the cables or in your trigger. Find the short, reboot MD, fix the problem.

Sorry guys for my long absence of posting an update to this thread.
I've been away for work related matters, so I haven't had the time to continue with my Megadrum project.
Simply put, the status of my problem is still the same: I can't get the Megadrum to work.

My available spare time is very limited at the moment, so I have to decide what to do with this project. Do I continue with it or start looking for alternatives (if there are any)?
I was convinced the Megadrum would be the ultimate solution to my main problem: MIDI trigger expansion. Let me explain.
I have a Roland TD-9 module and Roland pads. This module has only 11 trigger inputs, so I needed something to expand my inputs. There were only a few options:

Roland TMC-6 MIDI trigger module - this device has only 6 inputs of which 1 supports piezo/piezo > way too much money for an antique box!

Alesis Trigger iO - been there, done that! - 10 inputs works just fine for me, but the latency gives too much delay and it's impossible to get proper pad sensitivity settings.

Roland TD-20(x) module > that would be the best solution with just one downside: its prize!

Basically what I need is:

- ± 10 stereo trigger inputs
- full control over pad sensitivity settings
- low latency to get a minimum delay
- ± 20 programmable drumkits

I need a decent amount of drumkits so I can change MIDI note settings to trigger different sounds within the TD-9's single percussion set.
Like on the Alesis iO, a foot switch to control changing the drumkits would be a very big plus, but I'm not sure if the Megadrum can be modified to support this feature?

Anyhow, the Megadrum seemed to have all the main ingredients I needed, so I got the Synthex kit, started building it and ran into problems that have yet to be solved.
After a month of troubleshooting, the problem still remains. Is there anything else I can do?

I am not sure if he likes that dmitri, I have offered my personel help a few messages back in this thread and the phone whent dead, not even a reply

Btw, I have more than twentyfive years experience in designing, manufacturing and repairing electronic cuircuits.

Just to clear the air, I don't recall anyone specifically suggesting me to have someone else have a look at my board prior to Dmitri's message. Rob, you opted that we might be neighbours, but as you said later on, we're living an hour drive apart and by your placed ' ' I thought you didn't think it was likely for us to meet in person. I got called away for working abroad that same time, so I just forgot to leave a reply. Sorry about that, man.

Like I mentioned earlier, I'm still very busy at the moment (which is totally frustrating for me as I really would like to finish my MegaDrum project).
Rob, I don't have anything planned that would bring me in close range of where you're living, so dropping by to show you my board isn't likely to happen any time soon. As an alternative, if you're still willing and time wise able to check out my stuff that is, I could sent it to you via mail instead. Would that be an option?
That would be less complicated I guess compared to sending my stuff to Dmitri (no offence).
