PCB DESIGN - Jacks PCB boards for 32 inputs

Postby Synthex » Sun Apr 06, 2008 2:11 pm

Hello,

Here is the two PCB for jacks inputs :

Jacks_PCB_Top_v1.6.gif

Jacks_PCB_Bottom_v1.6.gif

Jacks_PCB_Bottom_v1.6_600dpi.gif.zip

These two boards are connected to the brain board via a single ribbon cable with 3 connectors.
A jumper "Pedal polarity" can switch the Tip and the Ring for Pedal connector.

Does it matter if you use DPDT Switched or un-switched sockets?

In theory switched sockets are better since it prevents parasite signals on unconnected inputs. Mine are all un-switched but it doesn't seem to have any negative effect. If you do use switched sockets, make sure none of unused inputs are set as "switch type" triggers.

Perfect. Thanks for the explanation.

I had ordered switched without realizing there were two different' types. Thankfully my lack of attention didn't effect me this time :)

Has anyone had any problem printing this?

I runined 2 boards as I etched them before I noticied! It could be because I'm printing from a mac (need to find a pc to test) but the 600dpi imagine prints slightly too big.

After I looked closer at my print settings I noticied that it was print "fit to page" which I'm sure isn't what you want.. however when I turn off fit to page its HUGE.

Am I missing something? I usally print from pdf's or eagle board files and they print 1:1

The file Jacks_v14_bottom_600dpi.gif is 600 DPI.
